"The light of lovers feedeth those in love."
In this workshop, we will explore the roles of love, intimacy, and consent on the stage. We will discuss techniques for communicating and establishing physical boundaries, ways of managing moments of heightened emotions, considerations for different bodies and experiences, and language with which to approach choreographing and setting intimate contact between actors. This workshop is great for actors, directors, teachers, stage managers, and anyone interested in learning more about consent-based practices and representing love onstage! Come with an open heart, your previous experience, and plenty of questions.
Kerstin Vaughn has her MFA in theatre performance and pedagogy. Her theatrical practice and research have centered on inclusivity, accessibility, and consent. She has taken numerous workshops with Theatrical Intimacy Education as well as Intimacy Directors and Coordinators and has worked on several productions as the intimacy choreographer.
