Details

Hairwork was a sentimental expression of grief and love, and a favored folk art of the 18th and 19th century. Objects created using human hair included wreaths, bracelets, lockets, flowers – and yes, even postcards! Join Akron Postcard Club to explore these unique tokens of friendship, remembrance, and romantic love. We’ll discuss the history of this artform and examine postcards from the Campbell Collection that are, themselves, adorned with real locks of hair. This free event is open to all ages.
