Details
We're diving into a binder curiously labeled "Feminist Leap Year" to explore gender roles, LGBTQ+ identity, and women's suffrage in the early 20th century. What does feminism have to do with the leap year? What role did postcards play in debates over women's suffrage? And how did those opposed to women's suffrage capitalize on widespread anxieties about sexuality and gender at the turn of the century?
We'll be joined by guest speaker Tony Pankuch to explore these questions through a guided tour of early 20th century leap year and women's suffrage postcards. Pankuch will share their own research about gender norms and identity during the women's suffrage movement.
