Please join us during the Akron ArtWalk for public viewing hours of the BFA Exhibition of Alexia Avdelas from Myers School of Art at The University of Akron.
The exhibition "a sack of milk and the botulism of meat" will be open Friday, June 9th from 5-9pm at the Avant Garden ART Studios & Gallery, located at Bounce Innovation Hub, 526 S. Main St., Suite 409.
Park in the visitors parking lot at the Bounce Innovation Hub and come to the side door of the building (closest to Main Street) for entry.
From Alexia's artist statement: "My multifaceted paintings explore body autonomy and tension. Contradiction and dissonance are key elements in my work, where I develop an unbalanced composition through juxtaposing dense layering with atmospheric space. I build large scale, shaped surfaces that express my own sense of my body as an abstracted container or vessel. The images are simultaneously limited by the confines of the body inside the framework as well as expand beyond these boundaries."
