Students in grades 6 through 8 will learn the basics of color theory and painting techniques. Breaking down 1-2 points in color theory alongside learning about supporting artists, activities, and projects, students will be able to demonstrate how to apply color theory to paintings and other forms of media as well as their own works of art.

The basics of color theory are the following:

Primary, secondary, and tertiary colors

Value scales

Tint, shade, and tones

Saturation and contrast

The last 2 weeks will consist of a final project that includes all of the concepts students have learned.
