Join us for the closing reception for MFA in Textiles candidate Jesse Satterfield from Kent State University. The closing reception for “Cruising Dystopia: Wallflowers of the Week” will be April 19th, 5-9pm at the Avant Garden ART Studios & Gallery, located at Bounce Innovation Hub, 526 S. Main St., Suite 409.
This body of work was developed as part of Satterfield’s graduate research, a companion to his thesis exhibition.
From Jesse’s artist statement: "These woven creatures are manifestations of Gay Loneliness, or how one can feel all at once, alone, while together with another next to you, holding you, or even inside of you. This self-inflicting cycle is a re-closeting by cutting off those that remind us of ourselves, or qualities we avoid as self-defense.”
