Playing its first concert in January 1896 under the baton of Antonín Dvořák himself, the Czech National Philharmonic is one of the world’s oldest and finest. Still based in Rudolfinum’s Dvořák Hall in the heart of Prague, the orchestra champions Czech composers and the music of Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Mahler, who in 1908 conducted it in the world première of his Symphony No. 7.
