During the Golden Age of cartoons, 1928-1964, animated “shorts” were designed to appeal to all audience, young and old alike, and quite often they did this through perpetuating racial stereotypes; we’ll take a look at some of the worst offenders (the “Censored 11”), and present an opportunity to discuss what they tell us about our society and the impact they most likely had on an audience.
