To accompany the upcoming exhibition of new work by Adana Tillman, we bring to you "Fashion, Contemporary Art and the World In-Between".

From Bill T. Jones and Willi Smith of WilliWear to Derrick Adams and Kerby Jean-Raymond of Pyer Moss, the collaborative realm between Black fashion designers and contemporary artists is very robust and rich. Through this intersection, audiences feel more connected to both fashion and art. For this presentation, Darnell-Jamal Lisby, Assistant Curator of the Cleveland Museum of Art, will give a presentation about the dynamic effects of the fashion historical collaborations between Black fashion designers and contemporary artist, contextualizing how Black ingenuity plays a significant role in the expansion of fashion.

Darnell-Jamal Lisby is the Assistant Curator of the Cleveland Museum of Art with a mandate to conceptualize and organize fashion exhibition, using the collections across all of the curatorial departments. He recently came from New York City’s Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, where he helped curate the Willi Smith: Street Couture exhibition. In addition to his curatorial path, his work as a fashion historian expands into mainstream and academic writing for book and online publications like Teen Vogue, Cultured Magazine, The Fashion and Race Database, and several exhibition catalogs.
