Details
The Highway 61 Band was conceived on October 10, 2001 and based in the Rust Belt on the Northcoast of Ohio, the band features Bob Moughler Harmonica and Vocals, Mike Lenz Guitar & Vocals, Dylan Roth on Drums and Pat Hughes on Bass and vocals.
Bob’s wanted to form a band that would incorporate Chicago style Blues and West Coast Boogie Blues, the music that inspired him to pick up the Harmonica while living out west and traveling between L.A. and Phoenix Arizona.
He was Influenced by one of the best Harp players in the country and master of the Boogie Blues, his good friend Hans Olson, who still lives in Phoenix and tours occasionally. As time passed Bob became hooked on the Big Tone of the great West coast players, the late great William Clarke, Kim Wilson, Rod Piazza and James Harman in an endless quest for “that tone”.
Well that tone paid off when Rupert Oysler, president of Seydel Harmonica Company U.S.A. picked Bob to be an endorsee, a relationship he still enjoys today after ten years and proud to be featured on Seydels website www.seydelusa.com with fellow endorsees Charlie Musselwhite, Mark Hummel, James Cotton, Curtis Salgado, and Watermelon Slim. It’s been a great ride so far and after 18 years on the road we have no intentions of stopping the train now!
The Highway 61 Band has worked with The Great Bill Blue, The incomperable Carl Wagoner, Joey Marchiano, Tom Konger, Carl Peachy, Mick Kilgos,The Fabulous Thunderbirds, James Cotton, Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers, James Harman, Reverend Raven & The Chain Smokin Alter Boys, Little Mike & The Tornadoes, Albert Castiglia, Mark Hummel, Rick Estrin & The Nightcats, and the late great Pat Ramsey & The Blues Disciples.
