In November 2014, musician and Akron native Marc Lee Shannon believed for the first time that he could have a better life. Broken, beaten, and lost from his struggle with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Mental Health Issues (MI), he was given a second chance through the healing powers of Medical and Mental Health treatment, a community of sober support, and the magical powers of music.

Since then, Shannon has enjoyed uninterrupted sobriety, allowing him to use his voice to empower others while serving as living evidence of his passion for recovery.

In this one-person show, Shannon opens up about his sobriety journey, transporting the audience from the darkest places of pain and loss to the mountaintop experiences of surviving and thriving in recovery. He shares the practices, beliefs, and words of strength that have shaped not just his sobriety but the unique experience of walking this road during a time of uncertainty and grief. This evening will feature songs inspired by his catalog and others, blending humor, heartache, humility, and hold-on stories of grit, grace, and the gift of recovery.
