The NAACP ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics) is a prestigious national achievement program that showcases the talent, passion, and academic excellence of high school students. Created to highlight underrepresented Black excellence, ACT-SO has evolved to include all cultures and identities.

Each year, NAACP units host local programs and competitions, with top finishers advancing to the National ACT-SO Competition in July. There, students compete for cash prizes, scholarships, awards, and national exposure. More than a competition, ACT-SO is a transformative experience that empowers students for future success.

Famous ACT-SO Alumni include Anthony Anderson, Kanye West, Lauryn Hill, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Akron’s Kofi Boakye.
