Reception for Easy Prey and companion show in the Emily Davis Gallery.
You are invited to the official reception for our new exhibition, Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 5–7 p.m.
Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
The Emily Davis Gallery is proud to present Easy Prey, an exhibition featuring the work of Ohio sculptor Kimberly Chapman.
Chapman’s beautifully rendered porcelain sculptures address the exploitation of women, including issues such as domestic violence, sexual assault, shaming, and the fight for reproductive freedom. Through exhaustive research, the artist narrates past and present stories through the female lens, shedding light on dark topics and reminding the viewer that silence is the soundtrack of oppression.
Easy Prey is on view at the Emily Davis Gallery from August 2–October 6. A companion show will run concurrently in the Lower Gallery and will feature work by local artists Morgan Bukovec, Katie Butler, Shani Richards, and Gwen Waight.
The Emily Davis Gallery is free and open to the public. Summer hours: 10:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
