Join Akron Soul Train, Artist in Residence - Anna E. Young, and Art Therapy Studio for a Transformative Workshop!

Explore resilience and self-discovery in a unique workshop inspired by Life’s a F*cking Joke, the upcoming exhibition by resident artist Anna E. Young. This partnership with Art Therapy Studio offers an opportunity to reflect on personal growth through the creative process of character creation.

In this session, participants will use writing, makeup, and costuming to craft distinctive characters that symbolize resilience, strength, and hope in response to personal challenges. Anna will guide a one-on-one photoshoot to capture these characters in a way that highlights your personal journey. The finished, private photographs will be shared with participants a week after the workshop, serving as a meaningful reminder of your creative and therapeutic process. The workshop also includes insights from a licensed art therapist, Amber McElreath, MA, ATR-BC, who will introduce art therapy tools and provide information on counseling and mental health resources available in Summit County and Northeast Ohio.

We’re thrilled to collaborate with Art Therapy Studio in Cleveland, Ohio, to bring this transformative experience to life. We look forward to seeing the incredible work that emerges from this journey of exploration and healing!

Limited spaces are available -- RSVP is required.
