The Ben Gage Band took form organically during the pandemic as five friends set out to ensure they could continue doing what it is they love: making music. With Akron songwriter Ben Gage at the helm, the band has been traveling the country, staying Covid safe as they hone in on their arrangements. Really, The Ben Gage band is a family, ever changing and adapting to the times. While you never know who you might see playing at a Ben Gage show, here are some of the usual suspects.

Brant Novak: Upright bass. Brant earns his nickname not only by being a burly hunk of a gentleman, but also by being a proud father and aviation pilot! Based in Canton, Brant works as an engineer and also plays bass with The Woovs and My buddy Josh's Band. Do yourself a favor and get a hug from Pappa Bear.

Dan Socha: Electric Guitar. Usually seen carrying a Stratocaster and smiling from ear to ear, Dan is steeped in the electric blues tradition. When it's time for the band to crank it up a notch, we turn to Dan. When he's not lending his screaming licks to the BGB, Dan performs with his sweetheart, Cleveland songwriter Bethany Joy. Between the wispy golden strands of hair and the sunny disposition, we just had to give him the nickname Goldilocks. And he's just right.

Spencer Cindia: Drums. The youngest member of the group, Spencer Aka Keanu Beatz provides the funky fresh drum fills to get your heart thumping in it's chest. In addition to drums, Spencer plays piano and guitar. When he's not producing his own music, he often backs up his boo boo, Akron songstress Josie McGee. And if all that doesn't impress you? He's got Ju Jitsu skills baby. HeeYA!

Brendan O'Malley: Mandolin. What ensemble is complete without a wisecracking Irishman? Not the kind worth seeing right? Weather it's a vocal backup or a twinkling riff from an instrument that's often confused for ukulele, Baby B is your man. Based in Cleveland Heights, Brendan works as a sideman and sometimes handyman/contractor dude. He is a former student of the Tri-C Jazz studies program.
