Pianist Haewon Song, violinist David Bowlin, and cellist Dimitry Kousov kick off the Kulas Concert Series’ 20th season.
Originally founded in 1982, The Oberlin Trio is an ensemble of all-Oberlin Conservatory faculty members: pianist Haewon Song, violinist David Bowlin, and cellist Dmitry Kouzov. Recent performance highlights include concerts in Seoul, Los Angeles, Portland, and San Francisco; and live broadcasts on WCLV Cleveland. The trio’s most recent recording, of music by Dmitri Shostakovich, Antonin Dvorak, and Joan Tower, was released on Oberlin Music in 2016. In 2022 they released an album of trios by F.J. Haydn on the Naxos label. In keeping with the group’s commitment to the education of young artists, the trio members collectively have given masterclasses at many major music schools. More information on the trio and its members can be found at www.oberlin.edu/oberlintrio.
The concert is part of UA’s Kulas Concert Series. In its 20th year, the Kulas Concert Series is generously supported by the Cleveland-Based Kulas Foundation. For more information, call 330-972-8301 or email concerts@uakron.edu.
