This fall, celebrate dance at The University of Akron.
November 22nd at 7:00 pm and 23rd at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm, The University of Akron Dance Company will present a collection of innovative choreography and exceptional artistic talent. The performance will showcase UA faculty choreographers Colleen Barnes, Hank Bamberger, and Christine Howe as well as guest artist Reggie Wilson. The performance will be presented “in the round” where audience members will be seated on all sides of the stage area. The effect will be an intimate and immersive experience into the choreographic worlds of each choreographer.
The University of Akron Dance Company is excited to welcome Reggie Wilson as our guest artist in partnership with The National Center for Choreography- Akron (NCCAkron). Reggie will be presenting a new work based on his current project The Reclamation. This is about “Getting stuff back!” Examining what was, to see how far it’s gone and identifying what might be missing or what is now needed from the original.
UA’s very own Christopher Coles and student members of the jazz ensemble will also be joining as collaborators with Colleen Barnes for an original score of dance and jazz music.
