Join Akron Soul Train and the Wick Poetry Center at Kent State University for Writing as Response to Art, an engaging workshop designed to inspire expressive writing through visual art. This unique event invites participants to explore the evocative exhibition Pathways and Passages by Earl O. James, featuring his thought-provoking sculptures and mixed media work.
The evening begins with an introduction to the practice of writing in response to art, led by Charles Malone, Assistant Director at the Wick Poetry Center. Drawing on his extensive experience, Charles will share examples and frameworks for engaging with visual art through writing. Participants will then immerse themselves in James’ work, reflect creatively, and craft written responses during a guided interactive session.
Attendees can share their creations and hear selected works read aloud, fostering a dynamic space for dialogue and connection. Whether you’re an experienced writer or exploring expressive writing for the first time, this event offers a meaningful way to unlock your creative voice and deepen your engagement with art.
