Downtown Akron Holiday Shopping Guide

Category Shop Local

Meet any Akronite who was around during the middle of the last century, and with a touch of nostalgia, they’ll probably tell you about how they used to come downtown to shop at Polsky’s and O’Neil’s—especially in the winter, when elaborate holiday décor was on full display in their Main Street windows. Although these famed department stores of Akron’s past are no longer, downtown’s retail scene, with its unique small businesses and curated pop-up markets, is still the place to be this holiday season, as you search for one-of-a-kind gifts for friends and family.

Read on to discover the neighborhood’s many shops and markets—many of which offer online shopping—and find ideas for gifting your loved ones (or, let’s be honest, even yourself), with unforgettable experiences, too.
