Akron Municipal Court and Jilly’s Music Room Offer Wedding Opportunity for Local Couples

Akron, Ohio, January 6, 2022 – Area couples will have an opportunity to marry at Jilly’s Music Room on Friday, January 28, 2022 thanks to a partnership between the venue and the Akron Municipal Court.

Akron Municipal Court Administrative/Presiding Judge Ron Cable will be officiating the weddings from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Jilly’s Music Room, located at 111 N. Main St. in downtown Akron.

“It is always fun to meet local couples and be a part of their special day,” said Administrative/Presiding Judge Ron Cable. “My team and I are grateful that we can provide a memorable opportunity for these families.”

Jilly’s Music Room, a live music and entertainment venue located in the Northside District, has generously donated space for the event.

"I can’t think of a better or happier way to kick off the year than with an afternoon of weddings,” said Jill Bacon Madden, owner of Jilly’s Music Room. “We are thrilled to partner with Judge Cable to offer this unique opportunity.”

Appointments are first-come, first-served and must be scheduled and paid for prior to January 28, 2022. Time slots will not be added once all appointments are booked.

In an effort to ensure the health and safety of all who are participating, couples and their guests will need to show a proof of vaccination (a vaccination card or the photo of one’s vaccination card) or a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and antigen tests will be accepted) taken within 48 hours from the time of the ceremony.

Couples will be limited to six guests total.

Prior to the ceremony, couples must obtain a marriage license from Summit County Probate Court. They then must pay a cash-only ceremony fee at the Akron Municipal Court Clerk’s Office in Room 837 of the Harold K. Stubbs Justice Center, located at 217 S. High St. The fee is $25 for those in the court’s jurisdiction, Akron, Fairlawn, Bath, Richfield, Springfield Township, Lakemore and the Summit County portion of Mogadore. There is a $40 fee for those residing outside the jurisdiction.

After paying the fee, couples should take their receipt to Room 901 in the Stubbs building to secure a time slot.
