Akron Soul Train Welcomes Colleen Suich as New Administrator

Akron, OH – 2/21/2025 – Akron Soul Train is pleased to announce the appointment of Colleen Suich as its new Administrator. Suich, an Akron-based independent curator, historian, and arts advocate, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to supporting artists and fostering community engagement through the arts.

Born and raised in Youngstown, Suich has dedicated her career to championing regional artists and advancing arts organizations. She has organized numerous exhibitions, collaboratives, workshops, and strategic community initiatives that emphasize inclusivity and artistic innovation. Prior to joining Akron Soul Train, she served as Curator of Collections at the Butler Institute of American Art, where she played a pivotal role in reinterpreting the museum’s permanent collection to broaden representation and inclusion.

During her tenure at the Butler Institute, Suich contributed to major projects, including curating Allegory: The Illuminated Landscapes of Mark Messersmith (2023). She also assisted in coordinating the museum’s collaborations with the Kennedy Center and Yo-Yo Ma through the Arts Across America initiative, the National Endowment for the Humanities’ 50 States of Preservation project, and other strategic arts partnerships.

Suich holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Arts in American Studies from Youngstown State University. Her academic concentrations include painting and printmaking, art history, collection interpretation, and nonprofit management.
