Akron Symphony Orchestra Introduces Special Discounted Tickets for Children and Students

October 10, 2024, Akron, OH — The Akron Symphony Orchestra (ASO), under the leadership of Executive Director Paul Jarrett, is excited to announce a new initiative to make live orchestral music more accessible to younger audiences. Effective immediately, all children under 18 and college students with a valid student ID will be eligible for special discounted tickets priced at just $7 each for all concerts in the 2024-2025 Classical Season at E.J. Thomas Hall. The seats provided will always be best available, or otherwise, assigned next to an accompanying adult or senior ticket.

Previously, university students could show their I.D. for a special “Student Rush” pricing in the final 30 minutes before a concert to receive this price, with all pre-ordered student and children tickets costing $15. In removing the thirty-minute time barrier for students, the decision was extended to provide a more accessible experience and welcome younger audiences and families.

This special pricing applies to an exhilarating season of performances, which includes iconic masterpieces and groundbreaking new works. Some of the remaining highlights for this season include:

  • Holst’s The Planets (October 19, 2024)
  • Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending and Schubert’s 5th Symphony (November 16, 2024)
  • Festive favorites at the Holiday Pops concert (December 13, 2024)
  • Rhapsody in Blue with Theron Brown (January 18, 2025)
  • The return of Gospel Meets Symphony (February 8, 2025)
  • Mahler’s monumental Resurrection Symphony (March 1, 2025)
  • Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto & Beethoven’s First (March 29, 2025)
  • Verdi’s stirring and soaring Requiem (May 10, 2025)

"We're thrilled to offer students and young music lovers the chance to experience the magic of live orchestral music for just $7.” says Akron Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Paul Jarrett. “It's our way of making the arts more accessible, and inspiring the next generation of music fans.”

With world-class musicians, a rich repertoire spanning centuries, and inspiring works by contemporary composers, the Akron Symphony Orchestra’s 2024-2025 season promises unforgettable experiences for all ages.
