American Structurepoint Expands Services to Akron, Ohio

Friday, December 6, 2024, Akron, Ohio – American Structurepoint, a nationally recognized full-service architecture and engineering firm founded in 1966 and serving Ohio since 1999, celebrated the opening of its Akron design center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at 388 South Main Street, Suite 460.

American Structurepoint’s new Akron design center, located in the original historic Building 41, has a storied past. In the 1940s and 1950s, Building 41 was part of the world’s largest tire plant, which spanned 72 acres, and everything from tires to wartime artillery and even components for the space shuttle were produced there. The materials produced in this facility served a greater purpose and contributed to national history.

Akron Mayor Shammas Malik welcomed American Structurepoint to Akron. "I am excited that American Structurepoint has chosen downtown Akron for its newest design center," Mayor Malik said. "This new design center will create dynamic job opportunities for local professionals in our vibrant downtown and will provide valuable career prospects for our top-notch engineering students at the University of Akron."

“We are excited to move into a building with such an innovative past,” said Vice President Ed Kagel. “We look forward to continuing our mission of driving development and innovation in the region.”

American Structurepoint’s team of seasoned professionals is ready to provide multiple services to clients throughout Ohio, including Akron and the Northeast region. The American Structurepoint team in Akron will provide transportation, utility infrastructure, investigative, site/civil engineering, and construction administration and construction inspection services.

“American Structurepoint is known for helping clients find innovative, cost-effective solutions that will foster growth and improve the quality of life for the people and communities we serve,” said Senior Vice President/Partner Walid Gemayel. “We look forward to offering services to help more Northeast Ohio communities solve complex infrastructure and economic development challenges.”

The Akron design center is American Structurepoint’s fourth Ohio design center and 18th nationwide. American Structurepoint also has design centers in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati, as well as in Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois, Florida, and Texas.
