The Downtown Akron Partnership pop-up program began in 2015 and provides rental assistance for the first six months to new businesses in the district. Since its inception, more than 40 new businesses have opened and range from retail and businesses, to vendors in the Northside Marketplace. Phase four is supported by Burton D. Morgan Foundation. Any new business, not just retail storefronts, interested in space within the Special Improvement District is eligible for the program.
