METRO RTA Announces Service Updates Beginning June 8.

May 29, 2020, Akron, Ohio - Beginning Monday, June 8, 2020, METRO’s Summer 2020 Contingency Schedule will go into effect. METRO will also reinstate bus fares on all services and the Robert K. Pfaff (RKP) Transit Center will reopen with limited hours.

“As we move forward in concurrence with Governor DeWine’s Responsible Restart Ohio initiative, we recognize our responsibility to provide public transportation while simultaneously supporting community efforts to control the spread of COVID-19,” said CEO Dawn Distler. “As such, we are proud to restore some service with our Summer Contingency Schedule.”

The Summer Contingency Schedule includes revised weekday and Saturday service. There is no Sunday service and the following circulator routes will be suspended until further notice: Route #50 Montrose, Route #51 Stow, Route #53 Portage/Graham, and Route #59 Chapel Hill. The DASH, Grocery Bus, and x60 service to Cleveland are still suspended at this time.

Paper schedules will not be printed at this time. Visit akronmetro.org to view electronic schedules or call 330.762.0341 for more information.

METRO has worked together with the Summit County Health Department to establish new safety standards, allowing them to provide more service with the schedule change. “We will always prioritize safety over service – the safety of our team members, and the safety of our passengers,” Distler said.

In order to maintain social distancing, METRO is focusing its resources on high-volume routes. Line-up times at the RKP Transit Center will be adjusted to allow passengers to make more timely and efficient connections. These adjustments can be viewed on the Transit Center departure boards.

The RKP Transit Center will be open 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Customer Care window hours will be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Passengers are encouraged to purchase passes on the EZfare app, at the RKP Transit Center, or from one of METRO’s retail outlet partners. Visit www.akronmetro.org for more information.
