Summit Choral Society: Summer Camps Registering Now
June 8, 2021, (AKRON, OH) — Summit Choral Society (SCS) is providing exceptional musical programs this summer offering two summer camps in downtown Akron. Summer Music Camps are half-day opportunities exploring music, theatre and dance for school aged children.
RED, WHITE & BOOM! is an immersive musical experience in American song repertoire. Participants will sing and harmonize along with learn rhythms and accompaniments on a variety of instruments including bells, xylophones, chimes and other mallet percussion. Under the direction of SCS’s Principal Conductor Heather J. Cooper, this camp will take place from June 28 - July 1 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. daily and culminate with a demonstration at Summit Artspace on July 1st.
DISNEY FROZEN KIDS! Are you already tired of the heat? Do your kids want to build a snowman? If so, join SCS this summer for ‘Frozen Kids’! A 30-minute version of the hit musical, Disney’s “Frozen”, performed after a 4-day mini-camp! There will be singing, dancing, laughing, and lots of memories made! Under the direction of Emily Garlock, Disney Frozen Kids takes place at Summit Choral Society July 26-July 29 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. daily, culminating in a theatrical experience at the Knight Stage at The Civic on July 29th.
