The Soulful Vegan to Hold Grand Opening in Downtown Akron
February 7, 2025, Akron, Ohio — Downtown Akron Partnership is excited to announce the grand opening of the Soulful Vegan in downtown Akron, which will take place on February 12. Furthermore, the Soulful Vegan will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, February 15, at 11 am. The restaurant is located at 12 E. Exchange St.
DAP President & CEO Kimberly Beckett says, “Downtown Akron Partnership is thrilled to welcome the Soulful Vegan to the district. Downtown is a celebration of our community, and having many restaurants with diverse culinary offerings adds vibrancy and character to the neighborhood.”
The Soulful Vegan offers vegan options with a soulful twist. The majority of featured menu items are vegan spins on popular meat-forward dishes, like ribs, burgers, wings, fish and chicken sandwiches, cheesesteaks, shrimp and much more. They will also serve alcoholic beverages.
The restaurant will boast happy hour specials Wednesday through Friday from 4 to 7 pm, and on Thursdays, patrons can sing karaoke. Additionally, they will offer brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Hours of operation will be Wednesday through Sunday, 11 am to midnight.
On Valentine’s Day, The Indigo Jazz Band will perform with vocalist SaVon Bass from 8 to 10 pm at the restaurant. For more information and to reserve a table, call 330-338-1949.

Start Downtown
The Soulful Vegan has been selected to receive support through the seventh round of Downtown Akron Partnership’s Start Downtown program, which is funded through a grant from Burton D. Morgan Foundation. Start Downtown brings new businesses to downtown Akron by matching business owners and entrepreneurs with downtown property owners and providing rent assistance for a period of six months. In alignment with Opportunity Akron and the Elevate Greater Akron Strategy, the program encourages new business growth with an emphasis on businesses owned by women and people of color. The program, which began in 2015 as the Pop-Up Retail Program, has catalyzed 27 businesses that are operating downtown.
