Akron Children's Museum Hosts Hands-On Halloween

Akron, OH. October 11, 2022 – Want to show off your favorite Halloween costume, catch a scary good mini concert featuring Mr. Jeff, have your face painted, or make some silly slime? Then join us Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the museum as ACM’s Hands-on Halloween event, presented by Acme Fresh Market, hosts a fun day the whole family will enjoy!

From 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., children will start their trek around the museum by designing a treat bag to fill up as they complete their activity passport along the way.  Children will make Pumpkin Food, Shake, Rattle, and Roll Halloween masks, and Monster Rock Pals while visiting the Halloween-themed craft stations.  Be sure to stop by one of the Spooky Science stations led by the University of Akron’s Engineering department or build a wooden craft provided by Home Depot with one-one-one guidance from students in the Tallmadge Builder’s Club.

There’s fun for adults as well, who can purchase a ticket to participate in a Halloween canvas painting experience presented by artists Stephanie and Kyla Stewart of P31 Arts & Design.  Attendees can also contribute to a community service project by bringing new fuzzy socks that will be donated to children at Summit County Children Services Winter Wonderland Drive Thru for Foster and Kinship Homes.  And get a jump start on your holiday shopping in the museum’s Monster Shop!

“ACM’s goal is to be the community’s go-to place for fun, learning, exploration, and memory-making,” said Traci Buckner, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum.  “We welcome all families who want to be part of this magical day!  We are excited to offer multiple time slots throughout the day to provide safe distancing for all to enjoy.”

“Thanks to our dedicated event chair, Susan Lindeman, children will be busy playing and exploring while parents and community members have fun supporting the museum’s programming and growth,” Buckner said.
